Classroom collections policy
- Collections of up to 35 pieces may be borrowed for a 28-day period with one 28-day renewal, checked out on the teacher’s library card.
- Video/DVDs, audiobooks, holiday and new books may be included but follow their own limits (see the table above).
- Teachers are encouraged to select collections themselves; adult and children’s books may both be included. Personal books do not count toward the 35.
- Staff will assemble collections on request — in person with the form below, by calling (740) 924-3561, or by emailing Jennifer Shaw. Staff need your name, grade, subject, number of books, fiction/non-fiction preference, and whether to borrow from other libraries.
- Requests must be made at least two weeks before pickup; allow more time for materials from partner libraries. Saturday requests may not be ready until Thursday. Collections not picked up within one week are re-shelved.
- If students need materials on specific subjects during a visit, let staff know whether to pull a selection or help students find it on the shelf. Please don’t deplete the library’s resources and then send students for help on class visits or after school.
- The teacher is responsible for all items and for fines or replacement costs for lost or damaged materials.
- Late notices are sent to all patrons by mail or email.
- Borrowers are responsible for renewing items with staff or online.
- Printed collection lists are provided with each collection.
